Glassell Studio School Ceramics: Sprigs & Stamps Day 4

Description

AW459: Ceramics: Sprigs & Stamps

Saturdays                   9:30 am – 12:30 pm

July 22 – August 12   (4 sessions)

Instructor:                  Peterson

Tuition:                       $300.00

No prerequisite

Students will be guided in creating their own stamps and sprig molds using a variety of methods including carving and texture transfers. This technique can be used to create interesting shapes and patterns efficiently; rather than measuring out and sculpting each piece of clay to then attach to a form, these tools will make adding textured surfaces to ceramic pieces much faster leaving more time for experimentation. Students will be instructed on creating simple handbuilt forms that they will use their stamps and spring molds on. This workshop will involve discussions on problem solving and personal tool making, so students will walk away with information that will enhance their own unique process.

LOCATION AND PARKING: All programs are held at the MFAH’s Glassell School of Art, located at 5101 Montrose Blvd., unless otherwise specified in the course description. Paid parking is available in the MFAH’s garage, also located at 5101 Montrose Blvd. Students enrolling in full length studio or art history courses receive a parking voucher valid for the current session. Parking vouchers are not included in workshop enrollments.
